To model plant growth in response to external factors, such as NO_3- concentration (molecular level) and cellular level perturbations (cellular level), we will employ a combination of carbon-dynamic model and a functional-structural model. The carbon-dynamic model simulates the processes of photosynthesis, carbon (C) partitioning between the leaf and roots, as well as sugar-starch portioning.
